Location
Safle

Amlwch is the northern most town in Wales and is situated on the northern coastline of Anglesey. At one time it was a booming mining town that became the centre of a vast global trade in copper ore, with the harbour inlet becoming a very busy port and significant shipbuilding and ship repair centre.

Those days have gone but can still be brought to life with a visit to the Copper Kingdom and a trip to Parys Mountain where the copper ore was once mined.

Mount View is ideally situated for both short and longer term breaks. Only a few minutes’ walk from the Coastal Path, Mount View is within walking distance of a couple of the town’s café’s, two pubs, and the local chippy!

Mount View is around 20 miles from the town of Holyhead, with its country parks, South Stack lighthouse & cliffs, and the RSPB reserve. Why not take a day trip to Ireland sailing from Holyhead Port?

What our guests are saying

Incredible location right
Next to the cliffs. Camp site facilities were well stocked and clean and having the option to rent a fire pit was great. Karl was an excellent host and we had a fantastic stay!

Two Night Visit with a dog

Stayed at Mount View for 2 nights last week.
What can I say, an absolute gem of a site.
Pitches a good size with hookup and water close by. Exceptionally well kept.
Karl and Julie made us and Indie our border terrier extremely welcome.
Toilet and showers very nice and clean, even a kitchen area with washing facilities for both clothes and pots.
Will certainly return on our travels, maybe even in the cabin (with hot tub!)
Coastal path is only a 10min walk with fantastic views.

Extra's

“Talk & Walk tours of Pary’s Mountain”

One of the towns biggest & most interesting attractions, Pary’s mountain.
During your stay at Mount View, would you like to find out about the history of Pary’s mountain, in its time the largest producing copper mine in the world, and its links with Amlwch port and the Town of Amlwch?
We are able to arrange “Talk & Walk” sessions with a very knowledgeable local man, Mr Len Jones, born and bred in Amlwch, who will come to the site, conduct a 30 – 40 minute talk about Pary’s mountain, the Port and the town, and then take you on a guided tour of Pary’s mountain, which normally takes about 2 to 3 hours.
He will be able to show you all the points of interest and explain to you what exactly you are looking at, and exactly what took place on the mountain.
The “Talk & Walk” session, along with transportation to and from Mount View to Pary’s mountain, is included in the charge of £10 per adult.
Make sure you bring suitable footwear for the walk, flip flops and trainers are not advisable.

“Bike Hire”

Do you want to get out and about to explore the local area but don’t want to use your Car, Motorhome or Campervan?
We have a limited number and range of bicycles which we rent out, so you can explore the local area at a more leisurely pace, to fully take in the local fauna & flora. Maybe you will spot a Red Squirrel, or a Kingfisher diving for its dinner??
We can provide you with advice and maps (if required) of routes you can follow, places to visit, all to make your bike ride more enjoyable.
Cost of the bike hire is £10 per bike for a half day rental (4 hours), and £17 for a full day rental (dawn till dusk), and we will include helmets for your safety, lights (just in case you come back to Mount View when its dark?) and a bike padlock, so the bikes can be secure if you decide to stop off for some food or liquid refreshment?

“Log Burners”

We have a number of log burners, chimeneas, and wood burning BBQ’s that we are able to rent out to our visitors.
Keep the night going a little longer, having a beer or glass of wine, whether you are talking about the day you have just had or putting the world to rights, there is nothing better than doing it around an open fire.
We can provide a burner for the night, at a cost of £5, and then your fuel (logs, kindling & fire lighters) for an additional £5 per night.
Speak to Karl or Julie during your visit to Mount View if you want to rent one of the log burners.

“Saturday Night Specials”

Established in 2018, we built a BBQ & Pizza oven station, where on Bank Holiday weekends, on the Saturday night (dependant on demand) we will be cooking a range of BBQ food along with Pizza’s, garlic breads, (the tomato & chilli one is really nice!), and various other items for our guests to enjoy.
Bar seating & bench table’s and seats will be available, and all you need to do is bring your own drinks...
We are not going to have a set price for the evening or the food you have eaten, but when you have finished your meal, you decide what it was worth and put that money into the box.
We intend to run this event through the full season, at the end of which once we have balanced the figures, if we have made some money from the “Saturday Night Specials” then we will donate it to a local charity or local worthwhile cause.

News

29/05/2020 – No real immediate change for us in the latest review and announcement from the Welsh first minister (https://gov.wales/stay-local-to-keep-wales-safe) but indications that restrictions may well start to ease in the next 3 weeks. Fingers crossed.
05/2020 – Chickens – We have decided to get some chickens. Building a coop for them at the moment, and hopefully they should arrive by mid June. Fresh eggs are going to be made available to our visitors (subject to demand and availability, and subject to a small charge).
05/2020 – New bookings for 2020 (Updated) – After considering all the facts & information at our disposal, we have decided to start taking bookings on both the Campsite and for “The Cabin” again, for booking dates from 11th July 2020 onward. If you book and we are unable to open for the dates of your booking due to the Covid 19 shutdown, then we will either 1) move the booking to an agreed later date in the season, to a date when we anticipate we will be open, or 2) move the booking to a date in 2021
05/2020 – Deposit payments and payments on arrival to Mount View. Deposit payments in accordance with the terms stated will be collected as per usual when the enquiry and initial booking is made. To minimise contact for all parties involved, all balance payments due, will now need to be made prior to arrival by either debit or credit card.
04/2020 – New bookings for 2020 - Even though we are closed, the phone calls and emails are still coming in. While we are in lockdown, and not knowing if we will be able to reopen this season, we have decided to stop taking new bookings for 2020, however, we are still taking bookings for 2021.
03/2020 – Pre existing bookings for this season – After careful consideration and based on information available, we have made the decision to either 1) move the pre existing booking to an agreed later date in the season, to a date when we anticipate we will be open (if we need to move the booking a second or third time we will), 2) move the pre existing booking to a date in 2021, or 3) refund payments or deposits paid where options 1) or 2) are not suitable.
03/2020 – In line with national advice due to the Covid 19 virus, the campsite is closed until further notice.
03/2020 – Chemical Waste – some of our visitors in late 2019 will have seen the new Chemical Waste holding tank. Well, we now have 2 which are both sited on the camp site with a local water supply for container rinse.
01/2020 – From season 2020 going forward we are to become a Tranquil Site, so ADULTS ONLY. The decision is made with a heavy heart, but we have realised after 3 seasons that our site does not provide the space needed for children, especially when they have excess energy they need to burn off.
